Oluwatosin Oyee

Dance and Sounds have given me an avenue to live out my thought process and freely express my deepest emotions. It has been a place of investigation, experimentation and a new experience of liberality and humanity. It is a journey into my being, where I experience solace as I journey through this paradoxical life.

My objective is to share, experience diversities, create an experience of the human state of mind in the present society and also promote the human and environmental cultural heritage for peaceful coexistence and harmony. I use the artistic prowess of the Yoruba culture to commune with my audience and I am keen on exploring new ideas as well as performing in new and unconventional spaces.

The world and existence as a whole is one and the dancer stands as the unifying body who expresses the oneness of existence as the body moves with the music, respecting nature and moving with the air around us. I feel my body, I see my space, I observe, I listen, I don’t think, I just give it to my senses and I move, unifying the natural sounds around in music through rhythmic heartbeat. ÌFẸ́ KAN!
