As’tele Hangout

As’tele is a platform that shows new works of art with the active participation of the audience. We believe that Art should be a conversational experience, as it has the capacity to lift the Spirit, soul and open the mind up to enable you to think freely without hindrance.

We bring artists and audiences together to exchange ideas and cultures, while through artistic performances we delve into who we are and our history as a people, our successes before the interruption of the colonial powers alongside their consequences. Through this engagement, we aim to remember pre-colonial history and the possibility of the imagined future.

At As’tele, we believe that Art has the capacity to do things that you don’t intend it to do, we throw it all out there and it is able to connect with people, and when it does that, the people are able to get their own stories and experiences in it.

As’tele features excerpts of newly created works and sometimes full-length pieces of dance, music, sound art, drama and spoken words etc.

In-between the performances, the audience have the opportunity of a sneak peek into the artists’ creative process, as well as share their views and ask questions.

During each edition, an Icon is celebrated. The celebrity is given an award of service and recognition for his/her contribution to the dance industry in Nigeria. Stakeholders, programmers, promoters, critics, and enthusiasts are invited.
